Hello all my friends and family,
I have been asked by the United States government to inform you all that every word, picture, and opinion posted on this blog is my opinion and your opinion, not the opinions of the American government. Nikki and I, along with Granma Thora, Sachel, And Kari, brought Emmy to the Bemidji Airport on Friday morning at 9:30 am. We saw her off to Philadelphia, the first stop on her journey, where she will do three days of training, mostly on how not to embarrass the United States. I'm not sure they could have trained me to do that, but then the US of A was smart enought from the beginning not to allow me to represent them. We watched Emmy depart with a mixture of sadness as our lives will not be as full without her around, and excitement for the adventure she has in front of her. Reminded me of what the minister/priest says at a funeral. "...off to a better place."

Dear Emmy Lou,
I am setting aside my paper and mid-term studies to wish you all the love in the world... You're leaving today, I can't tell you how happy I am to have heard the sound of that genuine and contagious laugh of yours, even if it was via Sprint. Take all your beads, memories and photos and hold them close to your heart, as you will be close to ours. Collect new treasures and insights and share them with me whenever possible. I'll be eagerly waiting. Call home often and always wear clean underwear... Kiizh told me to tell you to watch out for pythons, they hide on the jungle floor. And by golly, learn to love your vegetables. If thats all you get from your two year stay, you know you'll make mom proud.

I love you a billion x a trillion. forever.
Nikki

Emmy left Philadelphia, PA, at 1100am on a bus going to NY JFK airport. She boarded the plane for Morocco at 6:00pm and is s'posed to arrive in Ouarzazate, Morocco at 8:00 pm Moroccan time (1:30 am eastern or 12:30 central). She will be in training for 3 months in Ouarzazate, Morocco. As near as I can find out, Ouarzazate (emmy spells it Ourzazate)is about 150 miles SouthEast of Marrakesh, which Crosby,Stills & Nash sang about in "Marakesh Express", a place where expat Americans went in the 60's to smoke Hasheesh. Ourzazate sits on the Barrge d' El-Mansour-Eddahbi, looks like a big lake in the middle of Morocco.
